Local Regeneron scholars celebrated by Congressman Suozzi

Students who ranked among the top 300 applicants in the Regeneron Science Talent Search science competition were named scholars and awarded, along with their high schools, $2,000.

New York鈥檚 3rd district U.S. Representative Thomas Suozzi and 黑料吃瓜资源 (CSHL) hosted a virtual reception to recognize the 26 local high school students who were named 2021 Regeneron scholars. The , owned and produced by the , is one of the nation鈥檚 most prestigious science and math competitions for high school students, and awards the top 300 scholars and their schools $2,000 each. One of CSHL鈥檚 Partners for the Future students, Vyom Shah from Jericho High School, was among those recognized. He studied the influence of dietary fatty acids on intestinal cancer in CSHL Fellow Semir Beyaz鈥檚 laboratory, and currently works in CSHL Fellow Hannah Meyer鈥檚 laboratory.

Congressman Suozzi applauded students for completing their science projects in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. 鈥淵ou鈥檙e the elites! You鈥檙e superstars! You鈥檙e brainiacs! And we鈥檙e very proud of you,鈥 he announced.
