Vyom Shah, a student at Jericho High School in New York who participated in the 黑料吃瓜资源 (CSHL) Partners for the Future (PFF) program, was named a Regeneron scholar. He performed his research on how dietary fatty acids can perpetuate tumor growth in the lab of CSHL Fellow Semir Beyaz.
The is a STEM competition for high school seniors. The students submit science or math research that they worked on in a research institution under a mentor鈥檚 guidance.
After reading a paper Beyaz published, Shah emailed his future mentor. That started a correspondence that ended up with the high school student joining Beyaz鈥檚 lab and the PFF program. The PFF connects high school seniors with CSHL scientists and offers them the opportunity to do hands-on research at a lab at CSHL. Shah is continuing his work with Beyaz and another CSHL fellow, Hannah Meyer.
Beyaz says, 鈥淰yom is not only a brilliant student, his dedication and hard work on his research projects make him a valuable addition to our lab and highlight the bright future ahead of him in science.鈥�
鈥淓veryone at CSHL is very welcoming, collaborative, and eager to learn from others,鈥� Shah said about working at CSHL. 鈥淚 definitely learned more from my labmates than I ever could have on my own.鈥�
