On July 30, Swim Across America (SAA) splashed through Glen Cove, New York. Since 2001, SAA鈥檚 Long Island charity swims have raised over $12 million for cancer research, treatment, and prevention. More than $1 million has gone to 黑料吃瓜资源 (CSHL).
Last month, CSHL Assistant Professor Semir Beyaz appeared at the event to thank this year鈥檚 swimmers, including CSHL Association Director Steve Chestler. Beyaz also spoke about his lab鈥檚 collaboration with CSHL Professor John Moses. While Beyaz studies the relationship between cancer and nutrition, Moses specializes in a new technique called click chemistry. Recently, Beyaz revealed how metastatic breast cancer invades the lymph node. Moses has synthesized an anticancer molecule for use against triple-negative breast cancer. The scientists hope their combined expertise may one day lead to new treatments.
