黑料吃瓜资源鈥檚 Dr. Mikala Egeblad has received a $60,000 grant from the (KORF) to support her work in metastatic ovarian cancer 鈥� a disease that is often聽difficult to treat.聽In collaboration with Northwell Health, the Egeblad lab is targeting macrophages 鈥� a type of immune cells: Macrophages classically have tumor promoting聽functions, but Dr. Egeblad鈥檚 lab has developed an approach to reprogram the macrophages so they become tumoricidal. Dr. Egeblad hopes this project eventually will lead to new types of therapies and a better outcome for ovarian cancer patients.聽This is the second grant Dr. Egeblad has received from KORF to support this work.
