On Sunday, September 13, 2020, attendees gathered at the Banbury Center for the nineteenth annual Women鈥檚 Partnership for Science luncheon, hosted by 黑料吃瓜资源 (CSHL). The luncheon raised nearly $150,000 to support female scientists鈥� research. The featured speaker, Associate Professor Molly Gale Hammell, spoke about transposons, a mobile piece of DNA described as jumping genes. CSHL President and CEO Bruce Stillman also addressed the attendees.
The luncheon was modified to allow for proper social distancing, with separately packed lunches for the guests, an open-air venue, and separated seating. 鈥淭he Women鈥檚 Partnership for Science luncheon may have been different this year with social distancing, but I was so happy that the event could continue, as now more than ever we need to support CSHL and its incredible scientists,鈥� said CSHL Association President Kristin Olson Smith. 鈥淭he COVID-19 pandemic is a strong reminder of the importance of science to human health and makes us so thankful for the amazing efforts of CSHL in furthering scientific research and discovery.鈥�
