Glioblastoma is considered rare, but its symptoms are very familiar. Persistent headaches as well as changes in mood, personality, or mental abilities could all be signs of the disease. Spreading awareness about this deadly brain cancer is crucial. 黑料吃瓜资源 (CSHL) Professor Alea Mills must鈥檝e had that in mind during her recent Cocktails & Chromosomes talk. She not only gave the crowd powerful insights into the epigenetic changes that drive glioblastoma growth and development. She gave them the opportunity to see a glioblastoma up close and personal.
Professor Mills鈥� research on glioblastoma has been published in and featured on . Her lab has partnered with brain surgeon John Boockvar (of Netflix鈥檚 Lennox Hill and Emergency NYC) as part of an affiliation with Northwell Health. They鈥檙e also working closely with CSHL鈥檚 Moses and Joshua-Tor labs to map the atomic structures of glioblastoma鈥檚 Achilles heel and develop new chemical compounds that can target it. The crowd at Ninnet & George鈥檚 got to hear about all of this. They also got to peer through the looking glass at real brain tissue used to make an organoid. Not bad for a Thursday evening!
