CITY OF SCIENCE: KATALIN KARIK脫 IN CONVERSATION WITH CARL ZIMMER

Hungarian-born biochemist Katalin Karik贸 was celebrated in the media after winning a 2023 Nobel Prize for her contributions to mRNA technology and vaccines against COVID-19. Her research has fundamentally changed our understanding of how mRNA interacts with our immune system, contributing to the unprecedented rate of vaccine development during one of the greatest threats to human health in modern times. Karik贸 is a professor at Szeged University in Hungary and an adjunct professor at Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She speaks about her lifesaving work with Carl Zimmer, columnist for The New York Times and author of many books about science, including the forthcoming Air-Borne: The Hidden History of the Life We Breathe.
