CSHL Press names David Crotty executive director

黑料吃瓜资源 (CSHL) has named David Crotty executive director of its publishing house, CSHL Press. He takes over for John Inglis, who founded the modern-day incarnation of CSHL Press in 1987.

CSHL Press traces its roots to the 1933 publication of the first volume on CSHL鈥檚 Symposia on Quantitative Biology. Today, the publisher is home to eight scientific journals, including the flagship , and has over 200 titles in print, from lab manuals to children鈥檚 books. The publishing house was also the birthplace of the world鈥檚 leading biomedical preprint platforms, bioRxiv and medRxiv.

鈥淐SHL Press has historically taken a leadership role in scholarly communication, from publishing the first molecular biology lab manual to the ongoing preprint revolution,鈥 Crotty says. 鈥淛ohn leaves enormous shoes to fill, but I am excited and honored by the opportunity to build on the Press鈥 successes and reputation for innovation, and to position it to thrive in the future.鈥

From 2001 to 2011, Crotty served as executive editor at CSHL Press, as well as editor-in-chief of the journal 鈥攁 definitive source of technique-related reviews and laboratory protocols across the life sciences. Crotty鈥檚 impressive resume also includes a senior consultant position at boutique firm Clarke & Esposito and 10 years at Oxford University Press, as both senior editor and editorial director of journals policy. He holds a Ph.D. in Genetics and Development from Columbia University and completed postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology.

Crotty assumes the lead at CSHL Press effective December 1, 2025.
