Tuveson outlined the AACR Cancer Centers Alliance鈥檚 initial plans in a article. In addition to its focus on translational research, the alliance will promote equity in patient care. This involves building partnerships with other cancer centers across the U.S. and with community-based health systems. Tuveson knows this work well through the CSHL-Northwell Health Affiliation.

National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer centers like CSHL鈥檚 have been a driving force in cancer medicine for over 50 years. Since 1991, these institutions have contributed to a 33% drop in U.S. cancer deaths.
The AACR is the largest professional organization dedicated to cancer research and medicine. Tuveson served as AACR president from 2021-2022. He has led the CSHL Cancer Center since 2016.
