Charity Navigator rates charities in comparison to others within the same sector, to determine how a charity is functioning according to industry standards. Financial data submitted annually is used to analyze the institution鈥檚 actual performance based on seven criteria: program expenses, administration expenses, fundraising expense, fundraising efficiency, primary revenue grown and primary expenses growth, and working capital ratio. In all industries, the 4-star rating indicates that the charity 鈥渆xceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its cause.鈥� Fewer than 600 out of the more than 5,000 charities ranked have attained two consecutive 4-star ratings; this makes CSHL鈥檚 fifth 4-star rating.
